**About the role**
The New Zealand Blood and Organ Service (NZBS) Blood Bank based at Palmerston North Hospital is an exciting and fast paced environment, often responding immediately in emergency situations for patients in need. What makes this role different to other Scientist roles is at the end of the day, you know that you have been directly involved in someone's care.
As a **Medical Laboratory Scientist** you will be responsible for performing a range of duties related to pre transfusion, antenatal and diagnostic testing and the issue of blood and blood products and tissue for clinical purposes. You will be joining a well-established team of Scientists committed to quality service, high standards and patient well-being.
Salary starting from $55,840 to $80,799 depending on registration and experience.
**About you**
To be successful in this role you must be registered as a Medical Laboratory Scientist (full or provisional registration) with the Medical Sciences Council of NZ. You will have a positive attitude, be committed to patient care and have the flexibility to fully participate in our 24-hour, 7-day roster. The ability to multi-task, work collaboratively and respond quickly in a fast-paced environment is essential in this role and key to your success as part of this high performing team.
We are looking for someone who:
- Is experienced in transfusion science or a related discipline
- Has the flexibility to fully participate in our 24-hour, 7-day per week roster
- Works collaboratively and has effective interpersonal and communication skills
- Has a positive attitude and is self-motivated
- Is professional and takes ownership of what they do
Previous experience working in a Blood Bank would be preferred, but not essential.
