Kōrero mō te tūranga ' About the role
The position involves the provision of quality vision, ear function and hearing screening to pre-school and school aged children as part of the national screening programme and children who are referred. The aim is early detection of hearing loss and reduced visual function in the specified populations.
Mō tō mātou rōpū ' About our team
The Vision and Hearing Technicians work primarily in schools and Before school Clinics. We have a fantastic culturally diverse team suited towards the Porirua community. We have a large team in Porirua consisting of Public Health nurses in schools, Public Health ear van Nurses and Vision and hearing technicians. We have an experienced Public Health team with a wealth of knowledge. You will have an induction with the organisation and then an orientation where you will be buddied with an experienced Technician. The team is very dynamic and adaptable as we are required to stand up for emergency responses. If this is you then Nau mai haere mai. Please apply.

Are you passionate about making a difference for children's vision and hearing for the Wellington region? Do you have a passion for public health and reducing inequities? We seek a highly motivated, energetic person who is organised, adaptable and flexible to join us in our work with children, their whanau, working for before school checks and school communities. If you have experience with tamariki, community work, health promotion or have vision and hearing experience, we would like to hear from you The successful applicant will be highly experienced in working with children and their whanau, have proven ability to build rapport and relationships within the community. Your knowledge of Te Tiriti o Waitangi, Colonization, Cultural health models and the inequities in health will be advantageous. For this role, previous experience in vision and hearing is desirable, although you will be given all the tools and learnings required to do the role, no experience necessary.
