Te Kaunihera o Tāmaki Makaurau is excited to announce a newly created opportunity for a** Senior Māori Outcomes Advisor.**
This is a strategic role within the Waste Minimisation and Management leadership team, part of the Resilience and Infrastructure directorate. It offers you the chance to help shape direction and influence decisions at a senior level.. The role focuses on integrating mātauranga Māori into our waste minimisation and management strategies, ensuring our services are responsive to the needs of Māori communities. You will collaborate closely with mana whenua and mataawaka to co-design and deliver initiatives that reflect Māori values and aspirations, contributing to sustainable environmental outcomes across Tāmaki Makaurau.

By leading the integration of mātauranga Māori into our waste minimisation strategies, you will ensure that our services not only meet environmental goals but also uphold the principles of kaitiakitanga, equity, and cultural respect. **Ngā kawenga matua: Key Responsibilities**:

- Advise and support the team in fulfilling our commitments to Māori by enhancing its capability to deliver Māori outcomes
- Support alignment and prioritisation of delivery plans to focus our efforts to achieving our aspiration for Zero Waste by 2040
- Train and guide our kaimahi to enhance engagement and partnership with iwi and Māori
- Embed mātauranga Māori approaches into our programmes, projects, and procurement
- Contribute to sustainable waste minimisation initiatives that support environmental and community wellbeing
- Lead the integration of mātauranga Māori into waste minimisation planning and delivery
- Partner with mana whenua and Māori communities to co-design solutions

**He kōrero mōu: About You**:
You are a passionate and experienced professional with a deep understanding of Te Ao Māori, Te Tiriti o Waitangi, and Mātauranga Māori. With a strategic mindset and excellent communication skills, you confidently navigate complex environments. Your resilience and adaptability enable you to lead kaupapa through challenges, driving positive and lasting outcomes.
- Confidently use Te Reo Māori to engage meaningfully with whānau, hapū, iwi, and Māori communities
- Show respect for tikanga and a strong commitment to upholding kawa Māori protocols
- Draw on your connection to Te Ao Māori and Te Taiao to authentically integrate mātauranga Māori into your mahi
- Practical experience and/or formal qualifications (such as a degree or diploma) in Māori resource management, natural environment, or related fields is ideal, though not essential
- Hold a current and valid New Zealand driver’s license
