Are you a passionate, creative storyteller who loves getting out into nature? How would you feel about the opportunity to get up-close and personal with some of the most unique native species and stunning locations Aotearoa has to offer - and to share stories about the incredible conservation mahi of Te Papa Atawhai|Department of Conservation?
As a Media and Communications Advisor, you will lead and deliver media and communications support for the Auckland Region, telling their amazing conservation stories. You will also provide media and communications support to a number of national portfolios and projects, with the support of the wider Media and Communications Team. You will quickly identify risks and opportunities, adapt your approach, and provide staff and stakeholders with appropriate communications support when required.

We are looking for a flexible self-starter and capable multi-tasker who has strong communication planning and writing skills. You will have a natural ability to tell stories using multiple channels, as well as the capability to identify and act on opportunities, engaging with different audiences and proactively seek opportunities.
If you have the following skills and experience, we are keen to hear from you:
- Creative experience telling stories using a range of internal and external communications channels, as well as a proven track record of communicating across a diverse and distributed organisation
- Ability to quickly understand multiple issues, manage conflicting priorities and operate to a high standard
- Excellent communicator and collaborator with both internal and external stakeholders
- Experience in developing and implementing effective systems to manage critical communications issues and risks
- Experience partnering and engaging with iwi and tangata whenua as well as an understanding of the implications of the Treaty of Waitangi is highly desirable
- Three plus years' experience leading communications and media relations
- A tertiary qualification in communications, media, public relations or marketing
