Are you looking for a general labouring position?

We are looking for a general labourer to join our construction company. You will be working on a commercial project here in Wellington. You will be involved in various tasks that are essential for the smooth running of the site. Your duties will include but not limited to:

- Site clean up: You will be responsible for keeping the site tidy and free of hazards. You will also dispose of any waste materials in a safe and environmentally friendly manner.
- Moving materials on site: You will be handling and transporting various materials on site, such as bricks, timber, concrete, steel, etc. You will use appropriate tools and equipment, such as wheelbarrows, trolleys, forklifts, etc. You will also follow the instructions of the site manager and the health and safety regulations.
- Helping with deliveries: You will be assisting with the loading and unloading of deliveries on site. You will check the quality and quantity of the goods and report any issues or damages. You will also store the goods in the designated areas and ensure they are secure and accessible.
- Helping out around site: You will be supporting other tradespeople on site, such as carpenters, plumbers, electricians, etc. You will help them with their tasks, such as measuring, cutting, drilling, nailing, etc. You will also learn from their skills and experience.

You will also need to wear long sleeves and pants on site to protect yourself from any injuries. Full PPE (personal protective equipment) will be provided by us. This includes:

- Hard hat
- High visibility vest
- Gloves
- Safety glasses
- Ear plugs

To be eligible for this job, you must meet the following requirements:

- Pass a clean drug and alcohol test: You must be able to work under the influence of any substances that may impair your performance or safety. You will be required to take a drug and alcohol test before starting the job and randomly during your employment.
- Pass a Ministry of Justice check: You must have a clean criminal record that does not affect your suitability for the job. You will be required to provide your consent and details for a Ministry of Justice check before starting the job.
- Complete a Site Safe course before starting the job: You must have a valid Site Safe passport that shows you have completed a Site Safe course within the last two years. The Site Safe course is a one-day training that covers the basic health and safety knowledge and skills for working on construction sites. If you do not have a Site Safe passport, we can arrange one for you before starting the job.

Having prior experience in general labouring is a bonus but not necessary. We are looking for someone who is reliable, hardworking, and willing to learn. You must also have:

- A good level of physical fitness and strength
- A positive attitude and work ethic
- A good communication and teamwork skills
- A basic numeracy and literacy skills
- A valid driving licence (preferable but not essential)
