**About the role**
We are looking for a Cook (Kaitautoko) - puna reo to join us at our Te Rau Ōriwa puna reo on a permanent part time basis based inTokoroa.
As our Cook, you will play a vital role in ensuring that our Tamariki receive nutritious, well-balanced meals that support their growth and development. You will be responsible for weekly shoppingplanning and preparing morning tea, lunch, and afternoon tea, following food safety regulations, and maintaining a clean and organised kitchen.
At times, you may be required to provide additional support on the floor to maintain staff-to-child ratios and ensure a safe and engaging learning environment.
**About you - You’ll have**:
- A Certificate in Food and Beverage Service (Level 3) or related field.
- A Food Safety Certificate.
- A sound understanding of nutritional needs for Tamariki ages 3 months to 5 years old.
- The ability to cook 30-50 child portion meals and snacks daily.
- Knowledge of the Food Act 2014 and National Programme 2.
- A Full NZ Drivers’ License (Class 1).
- A sound understanding of te reo Māori phrases, mihi and greetings, and Māori values, culture, and tikanga, would be advantageous.
- This role is classified as a Core Worker and will need to pass a safety check under the Children’s Act 2014.
- The ability to lift, bend and stand for long periods of time.
As a kaupapa Māori organisation, your willingness to participate in cultural activities and develop an understanding of Āhuatanga Māori (values, culture and tikanga) is desirable.
