Music Instruments Buyer wanted: Christchurch

Milestone Ltd T/A Music Star is a Christchurch based company. We are now looking for multiple experienced Music Instructments Buyers to join us. This is a full time role with at least 30 hours per week.

**Main responsibility**

MUSIC INSTRUMENTS BUYERS select and purchase a variety of musical instruments for resale in retail establishments, and assess and acquire instruments from manufacturers, distributors, and auctions.

**Tasks and responsibilities**
- Monitoring musical instrument sales data and stock levels, and studying industry, manufacturer, and market information to stay informed about changing market conditions;
- Negotiating purchase agreements, promotional partnerships, and supply terms with instrument manufacturers, wholesalers, and distributors;
- Designing and implementing pricing strategies, marketing campaigns, promotional activities, and in-store or online display plans for various categories of musical instruments;
- Liaising with senior management on long-term procurement planning and seasonal sales promotions across both traditional and digital instruments;
- Establishing inventory and procurement plans based on seasonal demand, consumer trends, and budgetary considerations
- Anticipating customer preferences and determining the quantity, type, and quality of instruments to be purchased
- Inspecting, comparing, selecting, and evaluating instruments based on sound quality, build craftsmanship, brand reputation, and playability;
- Receiving sample instruments or demonstration models from suppliers and wholesalers for hands-on evaluation and comparison;
- May attend music trade fairs, auctions, and manufacturer showrooms to evaluate and procure instruments
- May visit instrument workshops or production facilities to assess quality control standards and negotiate custom or bulk orders tailored to specific retail or educational market needs.
- At least two years, ideally three years of relevant work experience OR NZ Level 4 relevant Certificate qualification or equivalent.
- Good work attitude and good communication skills
- Strong motivation
- Physical fitness and could handle the heavy workload
- Quality workmanship and eye for detail
- Strong dedication to health and workplace safety
- Excellent interpersonal skills to work with other team members.
- Strong ability to work independently
