New Zealand Technical Recruitment Solutions Full time

**Instrumentation Engineer (Projects)**

- **$100,000 to $125,000** Base Salary depending on relevant experience
- **Plus 3% Kiwisaver**:

- **Overtime**: paid at your base rate for hours worked in addition to your standard 40-hour week
- **Relocation Support Available ($5k to $10k**)
- **Health Insurance**:

- **Life Insurance**:

- **Away Allowance**:$85 per day** when away on site

**What kind of Company is this?**
This is just one office of a well-established and growing company in New Zealand who provide total engineering solutions from concept through to after sales support.

Their ingenuity to provide proven custom designed equipment and services has kept the business rolling in.

They specialise in design and build of Industrial Plant Equipment that they integrate into Manufacturing Plants.

**Why this type of Company?**
This is an opportunity for an Instrumentation Engineer who would enjoy working for an EPC Contractor rather than a consultancy or a manufacturer.

As opposed to a consultancy environment, in addition to design you will also procure, and be part of the building of the plant and client handover.

As opposed to a manufacturer, here you will still use your hands-on skills at installation, commissioning, and doing fault-finding but you will be solely focused on new projects. You won’t be stuck just calibrating and maintaining a plant.

You will get the best of both types of companies combined in this role and in a professional office environment with many longstanding employees.

The Company doesn’t have many competitors at the project size, high quality, and niche of projects they do. They are very stable and have a decent workflow of projects in NZ (80% +) and Australia. So your job will be stable too.

**Location**
The Hawkes Bay is a good place to live if you would like the relaxed vibe of a smaller NZ city on the coastline. Napier has high sunshine hours, great for growing wine etc., exploring the outdoors, and raising a family.

**Why Hire?**
Due to a current employee going on an OE, the Company have re-grouped and decided they want to hire a technical specialist** Instrumentation Project Engineer** as that is the key skillset they need.
I can imagine if you are reading this you may be: an Instrumentation Engineer, an Electrical & Instrumentation Engineer, a Controls & Instrumentation Engineer, an Instrumentation Technician, or an Electrician with Instrumentation training.

**A Typical Project**
A typical project will see you in the office during the initial engineering phase doing instrumentation design, specifying, and selection for a number of months e.g. 6 months.

Site Phase two will see you on site about 1 week in every 4 installing and configuring instrumentation.

In the commissioning phase three you will commission the project, and you could be on site up to 6 weeks. This will include some fault-finding and then providing support for the instruments once the plant is up and running.

As a general guide, you will likely need to be ok with being away from home on a project site for 5 to 8 weeks annually.

**Away Allowance**: For every day away you will receive an **$85 Away Allowance** for your food, and you can pocket the rest or dine like a king for a while.

**Your Team**
You will be joining their team of very experienced Electrical and Controls Engineers.

Your direct manager will support you, and you will also have access to a number of people with instrumentation experience and knowledge in the business from other teams there too. So, you will be well mentored and supported.

There is a collaborative culture here where people are willing to share their knowledge and experience with you.

**Training**
You will be trained to use the Company’s Project Equipment Database.

If you don’t know how to design machine guarding and/or do hazardous area design you will learn this here too.

The Company has so much experience in-house that you should be able to find someone who can train you on what you need to know for this role.

**Does this sound like you?**
- Recognised tertiary level Diploma in Electrical or Instrument Engineering (or equivalent)
- At least 5 years + overall career experience
- At least 2 years of instrumentation experience
- Understanding of key instrumentation concepts. You should understand what relevant instrumentation does, how it works, and how to calibrate it.

You are familiar with some of the following instrumentation:

- Meters (Vortex & Annubar for Flow, Capacitance), Transmitters (Differential Pressure, Infrared Level), Switches (Capacitance, Pressure, Level), and Water Analysers.

The Company is open to training someone who meets this experience so if you do and this sounds interesting please apply.
