We provide expert advice on how technology can be leveraged to support Police's strategies and turn concepts into reality through collaborative development. We are currently seeking a Senior Developer to play a key role to design, develop, maintain and test the Data Warehousing Solutions that drives the work of NZ Police. Whether we are transforming how we provide data and analytics capability to our business users, or how we store and manage data, the Senior Developer plays a key role in providing the technical BI solutions that provide insights and intelligence in support of front-line policing activity. Our Senior Developers work with business users, alongside other teams in the wider ICT Group, to ensure we deliver the right solutions at the right time. They will write clean, efficient code using industry and NZ Police current best practices and standards. This includes the delivery of appropriate design documentation. The Senior Developers support the progress and improvement of the Development Practice at NZ Police. They provide support and guidance to other members of the team and wider ICT community. This particular role works within the Data Analytics product team across a number of different projects. **Key Accountabilities**: - Designs, codes, tests, documents, and refactors complex programs/scripts and troubleshoots and configures data warehousing solutions. - Applies agreed standards and tools to achieve well-engineered outcomes. - Adopts and adapts system design methods, tools and techniques. - Contributes to development of system design policies, standards and selection of architecture components. - Reviews, verifies and improves own designs against specifications. To be successful in this role you will require the following: - Have solid experience with database design and programming languages such as SQL or Python, and working with Db2 or Oracle databases. - Experience with SAP Data Services and BusinessObjects will be advantageous - Have the ability to mentor and support more junior members of the practice. - Be an effective communicator, able to make complex technical concepts and ideas understandable. - Be self-led, and able to problem solve, with good attention to detail.
