**The Role**
We have permanent, full-time opportunity for an Assistant Professor (Lecturer or Senior Lecturer in New Zealand) of Economics to develop their career in teaching, research and service. We are specifically seeking expertise in one or more of the following fields: Macroeconomics, Labour Economics and Public Economics. Desirable secondary fields include Econometrics, Health Economics and Urban Economics.

**The School of Economics**
AUT's School of Economics (part of our Faculty of Business, Economics and Law) has a reputation for outstanding research that is contemporary and relevant and our ambition is to be the best empirical economics research school in New Zealand. We are climbing the rankings and are now within the top 350 in the world (Economics and Econometrics, QS World University Rankings 2021), have twelve full-time staff and growing numbers of PhD, Masters and Honours students. The School specialises in applied economics, with our staff routinely publishing in top-ranked international economic journals and their research regularly informing government policy. The School has an on-site Datalab, with secure access to Statistics New Zealand's Integrated Data Infrastructure (IDI), and close affiliations with AUT's New Zealand Work Research Institute and government agencies. AUT also prides itself on its high-quality teaching, which is informed by our research and provides students with rigorous analytical skills.

**Key requirements for the role**
Qualification:

- PhD (or very close to submission for examination) in Economics - preferably specialising in Macroeconomics, Labour Economics or Public Economics. (Desirable secondary fields include Econometrics, Health Economics and Urban Economics.)
Research and Scholarship:

- Research interests should be in either Macroeconomics, Labour Economics or Public Economics. (Desirable secondary fields include Econometrics, Health Economics and Urban Economics.)
- An early career academic will have the basis of a solid research pipeline and a job market paper available.
Teaching and Learning:

- An early career academic will ideally have at least some previous teaching experience.
Appointment level and salary will be commensurate with the skills and experience of the successful applicant.
