**The Role**:
As a skilled Social Worker, you will play a vital role in providing safe and clinically effective patient/client assessments and interventions within the forensic mental health setting. Collaborating with a cohesive team, your focus will be on delivering high-quality social work services to clients within the Youth Forensic Service. Additionally, you will engage in valuable consultation and liaison activities with other District mental health services, NGO providers, as well as patients' families and whanau. Active participation in the multidisciplinary team will be a key aspect of your role.
**About Our Team**:
Our client is an operational group of regional and national services with staff based across the Central Region, from Gisborne to Wanganui through to Wellington. It encompasses both inpatient and community-based services, including Central Regional Forensic Mental Health Service, Youth Forensic Service, and Rehabilitation and Extended Care Inpatient Service. In this position, you will be part of the regional arm contributing to the Central Regional Forensic Mental Health Service. The team operates at the intersection of Mental Health Services and the Justice System, delivering crucial assessments and rehabilitation services to defendants facing criminal charges and offenders with psychiatric illness.
**About You**:
Our client is seeking a dedicated Social Worker with a minimum of 2-5 years of clinical experience relevant to this role. Teamwork is at the core of this position, and your ability to collaborate effectively will be paramount.
**You must have a current NZ Social Work registration and practicing certificate.**
**Your Responsibilities**:
In this multifaceted role, you will be responsible for various tasks, including:
- Attending Youth Court and providing mental health liaison to Youth Court Stakeholders
- Conducting mental health and substance use screening assessments on youth appearing in the Youth Court
- Offering Court recommendations based on screening assessments, including comprehensive assessment reports where necessary
- Demonstrating excellent clinical and cultural consideration as a role model within the multidisciplinary team process
- Assisting clients and their families/whanau in achieving optimal health, well-being, and safety through appropriate assessment, risk management, referrals, and education
- Working closely with community agencies to achieve the agreed outcomes set by the multidisciplinary team process
