The late Professor Emeritus Brian Coote generously bequeathed the largest gift by a staff member to the University of Auckland Waipapa Taumata Rau. Part of his legacy is to establish the Coote Chair in Private Law. We are seeking to appoint an outstanding scholar with excellent interpersonal skills who will make a significant contribution to their sub-discipline of Private Law, as well as the academic and broader community across New Zealand and internationally. Applications are welcomed from those with expertise in any area of Private Law, including company, competition, corporate, commercial, property, contract, landlord/tenancy, torts, trusts, equity, labour, family, or consumer law.

The Faculty of Law’s degree programmes are taught by some of New Zealand's leading scholars. The Faculty has outstanding students and very supportive alumni. Applicants will reflect our commitment to excellence in teaching and learning, and have the knowledge and expertise to mentor and grow research excellence.
