Duties and Responsibilities:
Production:
- Work with other team members to maximise productivity and efficiency in the factory area.
- Planning and writing of production plans.
- Set up, operate and monitor rope/net making machines.
- Assist fellow staff in start-up or line/die changes and relieve where necessary over meal breaks or in times of absenteeism.
- Winding, cutting and packing of end products to a standard that conforms to customers’ requirements and expectations.
- Record production information such as gauge readings, manufacturing times, raw material usage and quality assurance metrics in the appropriate systems.
- Follow all company rules and policies and uphold Health and Safety compliance
Maintenance and Tooling:
- Fix/assist to fix equipment malfunctions as they arise
- Prototype tools and fittings for product development projects.
Product development and testing:
- Share knowledge, experience or ideas to increase the efficiency of the entire operation. Contribute to development of new products and processes.
- Test machine configurations, twisting/weaving techniques and disposal methods of various types of input material as part of product development projects.
- Create and maintain logs to document testing phases of product development projects.
Quality Assurance:
- Ensure quality checks are performed regularly, accurately and results recorded appropriately.
- Keep work areas clean and organised.
Qualifications:
- Trade certificate in any mechanical engineering field.
- In depth technical knowledge of rope making equipment and net weaving looms.
- At least three years of “hands on” experience in a rope/netting manufacturing or fabrication environment.
- MUST have the ability to use basic tool room equipment and precision measurement instruments like micro meters and vernier callipers.
- Experience in an extrusion environment is a bonus
- Working knowledge of basic machine maintenance and minor repairs.
- Full, current driver’s licence
- Forklift licence is a bonus General skills:
- Strong team player to ensure productivity and efficiency is maintained in the factory
- Physical fitness and stamina are important as long periods of standing and some heavy lifting is required.
- Proven track record of reliability and work ethic. Must take pride in the work you produce.
- Mechanical aptitude and strong maths skills. Must be willing and able to learn new technical skills.
- Sound appreciation of Health and Safety work practices and compliance in the workplace.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Good command of the English language is required (reading and writing), basic numeracy skills and competence with paper work as well as basic computer skills as a minimum.
- Team player with “can do” attitude, initiative and pro-active problem solving ability.
- Good organisational and time management skills.
- Able to maintain focus, an eye for detail and a good level of concentration in a fast paced environment.
- Reliability and good attitude is a MUST
This role is based in Marsden Point and has a pay rate of $28 per hour. There are 40 hours guaraunteed work available per week.
**Salary**: $28.00 per hour
