Our company Forest Operations Ltd is a silviculture operation based in Hawkes Bay, we are looking to employ fit, reliable, on-time workers to help our business expand, if you have a good work ethic and like working in a team in the great outdoors come and talk to us today.
No experience is needed, full and ongoing training will be provided.
About the job:
**Planting**:
- planting operations
- re establish or planting new forests, you will be required to carry seedlings in a pack on your back weighing approx 20 kgs and plant them using a shovel as you go, some of the country is hilly, steep terrain and requires a high level of fitness.
**Weed control -** Clearing weeds from plantations working with a either a chainsaw, machete or chemical sprays.
**Scrub cutting**:
- Using a scrub bar to remove small trees and weeds.
**Fire fighting -**Cutting fire tracks into vulnerable sites for fire prevention and control and conducting look-out duties
All the above duties are carried out in the back blocks of Hawkes Bay, the terrain we work in is physically demanding and work is carried out in all weather conditions. The role is full-time and ongoing and you will be expected to work for 30 hours minimum per week and up to 40 hours if required.
**Job Requirements**
- Physically fit.
- Able to carry up to 20kgs on your back walking up steep terrain.
- Sober and drug-free - random testing is conducted
- Love working in the great outdoors.
- Honest and reliable.
- Ability to work away from home.
- Ability to work in all terrain.
- Transport will be provided to and from the work site.
- Ongoing training will be provided
All applicants must be NZ residents or citizens or have the ability to legally work in New Zealand.
