**_About Us/Mō mātou_**
The Politics Programme was established in 1967 and has a well-established record of excellence in teaching and research. We have 11 academic staff who are experts in their fields and actively engaged in research that enriches their teaching.
We offer under-graduate and post-graduate teaching and supervision in New Zealand politics, international relations, comparative politics and political theory. Our Programme offers the Master of Politics degree and also contributes to the Master of International Studies (MIntSt) and the undergraduate and post-graduate qualifications in Philosophy, Politics & Economics (PhPE).
**_The Role/Te mahi_**
We are seeking to appoint a Lecturer to a full-time confirmation path position in the field of political theory, with an ability to teach in the areas of the history of political thought, contemporary normative theory, and applied political philosophy. The successful applicant will teach POLS 101 Political Philosophy, POLS 243 Political Ideologies, POLS 375 Human Rights, and POLS 512 The Ethics and Politics of Resistance. They will also be expected to have experience supervising post-graduate research. They will have demonstrated knowledge and experience in teaching at these levels and in these areas, in critiquing neoliberalism, and engaging with critical perspectives within political theory.
Our Programme fosters a collaborative and collegial approach to teaching and research. Applicants should:
- Demonstrate a commitment to high-quality and innovative teaching that facilitates student engagement and retention.
- Have a well-established publications record (at least four book chapters and ten international journal articles) and future research plans.
- Demonstrate a proven willingness to contribute to the administration of the Programme and wider University community.
- Demonstrate a commitment to making this a long-term position rather than a ‘stepping stone’ appointment.
