**Mō te tūnga **| **About the Role**
We are seeking a skilled and passionate social worker within the family protection space to join our team in this permanent part time role.
Utilise your experience supporting referrals from Health New Zealand staff pertaining to intimate partner abuse, maternal care, wellbeing and elder abuse where there are concerns for abuse and neglect. Provide guidance to staff seeking to manage cases where patients are experiencing abuse and neglect.
**Ko wai koe | About You**
In this role, you will be responsible for:
- Receives referrals from Oranga Tamariki and the Police for paediatric medical assessments when there are concerns regarding abuse and neglect.
- Receives referrals from Health staff where there is child protection, family violence and elder abuse concerns.
- Provides guidance, consultation, training and education to Health staff on child protection, family violence and elder abuse matters.
- Facilitates and coordinates multidisciplinary meetings that supports staff to review cases where there is vulnerability.
- Develops and maintains the Child Protection and Intimate Partner Violence Policies.
- Participates in the Police Integrated Safety Response to promote immediate safety for families experiencing family violence.
- Provides child and young people that are referred by the Ministry for Children Oranga Tamariki with Gateway Assessments.
- Provides Infant2teen Health Assessments to identify and address children's wholistic health and educational needs.

**Essential**
- Must be a registered Social Worker with a minimum of 5 years Child Protection experience.
- Experience in training and presentation to groups
- Experience in coaching and mentoring of staff
- Computer literacy
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Have an awareness of and sensitivity to the cultural differences and expectations of health service consumers and different ethnic backgrounds
- A current Driver’s Licence
**Desirable**
- Experience in health services in Canterbury Health and/or Oranga Tamariki
- Experience in care and protection work
