Te Hiringa Mahara - Mental Health and Wellbeing Commission is an independent Crown entity and kaitiaki (guardian) of mental health and wellbeing in Aotearoa New Zealand. We contribute to better and equitable mental health and wellbeing outcomes for people in Aotearoa. We provide system-level oversight, leadership, monitoring, reporting and advocacy for people with lived experience and whānau who support them.
We are committed to achieving better and equitable mental health and wellbeing outcomes for Māori and being grounded in Te Tiriti o Waitangi, as we express in Te Tauāki ki Te Tiriti o Waitangi - Te Tiriti o Waitangi Position Statement. We prioritise the voices and interests of people with lived experience in our work, as captured in our Lived Experience Position Statement.
This is a great time to join our small team and contribute to improving the mental health and addiction system for those who need it.
Our Mental Health and Addiction team have a significant work programme that is focused on:  
- Engagement: with lived experience communities, the sector and services
- Monitoring: against He Ara Āwhina - Pathways to Support framework
- Advocating: for improvement of services and the collective interests of people with lived experience of mental distress and/or addiction and those who support them

We are looking for an experienced Senior Policy Advisor with well-developed critical thinking skills, strong research or analytical experience, and advanced writing skills. If you have policy expertise, ideally in mental health and/or addiction (including data) and knowledge of the Access and Choice primary mental health programme, we want to hear from you.
