About the opportunity
Working with other Managers and our Senior Leadership Team you will lead your small team to:

- Reform a range of transport rules and legislation, in order to modernise the way our transport system operates and allow it to operate more efficiently
- Improve the quality of advice through coaching and mentoring of staff
- Engage across agencies, with stakeholders, and with the Minister to build support for changes, ensure they can be implemented and achieve the Government's objectives.
- Support the Ministry's wider regulatory quality standards, through leadership of the RIA process internally.

Based on the work or support that may be required, this position is Wellington based only.
What you'll bring
**You will need the following**:

- Exemplary stakeholder engagement and relationship management skills - internally and externally (cross government, ministers and their offices, parliament)
- Extensive experience in providing complex policy advice to Ministers
- Proven ability to lead large projects and programmes with a focus on high standards and delivery
- Previous experience in building and leading a high performing team
- Tertiary qualification in a relevant field is essential (eg Economics, Public Policy, Law)

Salary range
The base salary for this position is from $169,590 with a mid-point of $187,900 per annum (+ KiwiSaver). The salary offered will reflect skills and experience.
