The GCSB Legal Team is looking for an expert legal leader to head a team of specialist lawyers providing advice on complex legal and strategic issues for the GCSB.
We can't reveal all the details of what you'll get to work on in this role, but it will be challenging and cover a wide range of operational, public and administrative law matters, including those of the utmost sensitivity. Your work will be with a purpose at the heart of national security, protecting Aotearoa and New Zealanders.
We're looking for someone with at least 10 years' PQE in either the public or private sector as a legal adviser. You'll have strong administrative and public law experience and be comfortable providing accurate legal advice across a range of legal areas, often in complex or uncertain circumstances. As a trusted adviser, you'll be discrete and solve legal problems as well as identifying them.
Your leadership of our cohesive and high-performing team will ensure continued delivery of exceptional legal advice to enable the GCSB's important work and encourage other lawyers to reach their potential as expert advisers.
As well as your excellent interpersonal and persuasion skills, you'll be able to build and maintain effective working relationships within the organisation and across a wide network. A high level of integrity, honesty and ethics is essential as well as your ability to exercise excellent judgement, even in difficult situations.
