Are you ready to lead in the national emergency management planning space? If so, nau mai, haere mai NEMA is looking for an experienced and dynamic planning lead who can see the big picture, use initiative, and drive the delivery of the National CDEM Plan review and other key initiatives.

In this role you will:
Provide thought leadership, development, maintenance, and evaluation of the strategic national CDEM planning framework, supporting doctrine and guidance, lead planning relationships with a range of CDEM stakeholders, including the other government agencies and planning sector, and provide Planning Manager capability to the Planning Function as required.

This position sits in the Planning and Sector Partnerships Unit that is responsible for developing and maintaining New Zealand's national emergency management planning framework and partnering with social and infrastructure sectors to build resilience across the 4 Rs of risk reduction, readiness, response, and recovery in support of communities.

As NEMA is an operational agency, there may be a requirement to respond to emergency activations in the event of a national emergency response. This may include potentially long hours and challenging working conditions, e.g. an emergency could occur at any time of the day or night and may require working shifts and/or working weekends**.** NEMA provides thorough training prior to you being required to assist in a response. NEMA will do all in its power to support staff in meeting their work and family responsibilities during an emergency. The welfare and wellbeing of our staff is of utmost importance.

**Due to the nature of our role in Emergency Management, NEMA has a very dynamic work environment and as a small agency, staff are often required to pivot and change focus on their work at short notice. Attributes of adaptability, agility, resilience and curiosity are all required on a daily basis, in and out of times of emergency response.**

**Huanga Whaiaro | Key requirements**

- A relevant tertiary qualification or an equivalent body of knowledge and experience, including a knowledge of emergency management processes and planning,
- Significant experience in the development of planning products or management of programmes to deliver outcomes,
- Experience leading and chairing multi-agency committees, or working groups
- Ability to identify, manage and minimise risk,
- Experience in persuading, influencing, building and maintaining effective collaborative relationships,
- Experience working in an emergency management environment,
- Experience with planning processes that involve key stakeholder engagement, including populations disproportionately impacted by emergencies

The indicative BASE salary range for this role is $147,686 - $161,266. NEMA offers a variety of benefits on top of the base salary.
