**Our Opportunity**:
This role will support the Geothermal Centralised Operations Project working out of the Kawerau Power Station. Once the project is complete, you'll be based at our Ngā Awa Purua generation site, 15 minutes from Taupō.
You'll join a team of 12 Geothermal Controllers on 24/7 operations of our generation assets: Ngā Awa Purua, Rotokawa, Kawerau and Ngā Tamariki. In this role, you'll be joining a team that's passionate about producing New Zealand's renewable energy.You will operate, manage and continuously improve Mercury's geothermal generation assets to ensure that Mercury and our partners meet business objectives in accordance with technical, quality, safety and environmental policies and requirements. As our assets require operating 24/7, you'll be working on a shift basis, and can enjoy the lifestyle of a roster-based system. You will be working alongside other Geothermal Controllers while on shift to collaborate and share knowledge and ideas, plus have access to integrated support teams.This role provides training and development opportunities and can be the start of longer term career opportunities in the company.
**Key responsibilities include**:
- Maximising generation through safe operation of the plant within operating envelopes
- Identifying process issues and opportunities for improvement
- Ensuring compliance with statutory legislation
- Providing support to the Production Technician as required
**We are looking for**:
- Engineering or National Certificate in Energy and Chemical Plant (Process Operation) Level 4
- Preferable to have some if not all the following experience:
- Operational plant experience
- Experience working on a High Hazard Facility and within Process Safety
- Experience in electricity generation, geothermal a further advantage Mercury offers (full benefits are listed on our Career Page):
