**He angitutanga | About the role**

As a Biodiversity Ranger, you will be working closely with the Biodiversity Supervisor to lead the delivery of pest plant work within the Rotorua region.

The position will be focussed on:

- Leading pest plant management efforts district-wide, including aerial herbicide operations for wilding conifer, native restoration planning, and weed management.
- Assisting in programs aimed at protecting threatened species.
- Supporting the local Biodiversity team in planning conservation projects.
- Coaching, supporting, and overseeing Rangers, community groups, and volunteers engaged in conservation activities.

If you have the following attributes, we are keen to hear from you:

- Proven expertise in planning, delivering, and reporting on operational projects.
- Demonstrated experience in practical management of pest plants, herbicide use and restoration planning.
- Growsafe Standard Certification.
- Experience in contract management.
- Proven ability to collaborate, communicate and build relationships effectively with Iwi, community groups, and landowners.
- Capable of working independently or as part of a team.
- Proficiency in using Microsoft programs for data capture and report writing, with skills in interpreting GIS information and creating maps.
- Full New Zealand Driver's Licence.

Desirable:

- Current First Aid Certificate.
- Tertiary qualification in natural heritage, science, or conservation management.
- Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of Tikanga Maori and Te Ao Maori.
- Back-country land navigation skills.
- Experience with managing wilding conifer control programs.
- Current day-skipper qualification and / or boat crew experience.
- Experience and or qualifications using trailers, scrub bars, herbicide spray gear, 4WD vehicles and working with helicopters and drones.
