The Block Cafe is a well known local cafe known for it's diverse food collection and brilliant coffee We are based in Blockhouse Bay, just outside of the central suburbs and just before west Auckland.

We are looking for a kitchen hand who will be reporting the head chef and the manager on duty.

Key duties inlude:

- Cleaning kitchens, food preparation areas and sculleries
- Cleaning cooking and general utensils used in kitchens and restaurants
- Transferring, weighing and checking supplies and equipment
- Assembling and preparing ingredients for cooking, and preparing salads, savouries and sandwiches
- Packing food and beverage trays for serving
- Cooking, toasting and heating simple food items
- Tidying up food preparation areas after they have been used
- Making sure that dishes/utensils are stored away properly
- Disposing of kitchen rubbish and food waste
- Washing kitchen linen
- Adhering to company's procedure for food hygiene and health & safety
- Ensuring that there are sufficient detergents for the efficient running of the dishwashing area

Requirements for the role:
Age 18 years or older

Ability to work in a multicultural environment

Team player and ability to work competently under pressure

Reliable and flexible to change

Must be able to work across any shifts including evening, weekends, and public holidays

Must be fit, a quick thinker, reliable, trust-worthy and self-motivated

**Job Types**: Full-time, Part-time
Part-time hours: 30-35 per week

**Salary**: $24.00 - $26.00 per hour

Schedule:

- 10 hour shift
- 8 hour shift
- Afternoon shift
- Evening shift
- Morning shift
- Public holidays
- Rotating roster

Ability to commute/relocate:

- Blockhouse Bay, Auckland: Reliably commute or planning to relocate before starting work (required)

Shift availability:

- Day Shift (preferred)
- Night Shift (preferred)
