The Older Persons - Mental Health Inpatient Unit provides psychiatric and geriatric care for the older members of our community. We aspire to provide high quality inpatient care to patients with acute mental health needs and/or complex age-related health conditions. We work in partnership with our patients, their families, the clinical team and community carers and supports to achieve the best possible health outcome for the patient.
The full-time salary range for an Enrolled Nurse is $69,934 to $83,349 _(effective from 1 April 24)_ based on the current Mental Health and Public Health Nursing MECA, dependent on skills, experience, and registration in NZ.
**Ko wai he kaitono tōtika? (Who is an appropriate applicant?)**
You will have current NCNZ registration and practising certificate, with no conditions that exclude Mental Health Scope of Practice, and it is desirable that you have a minimum of one year of post-registration nursing experience.
**You will have knowledge of**:
- Physical and mental disorders commonly experienced in older persons
- Contemporary treatment approaches including person-centred care, sensory modulation, therapeutic use of self and therapeutic use of psychiatric medications
- Mental Health assessment and care planning
- Mental Health (Compulsory Assessment and Treatment) Act, 1992
- PPPR Act - Welfare Guardianship
**Your skills will include**:
- Well-developed interpersonal skills
- Ability to work effectively in multi-disciplinary team
- Ability to work effectively with patients who have challenging behaviours.
