**About the team | Ko te rōpū nei**
The Council's Alcohol Licensing team along with the Police and Community & Te Mana Ora have a role in administering and controlling how alcohol is sold, supplied and consumed in the City and ensuring that this is undertaken safely and responsibly.
**About the role | Ko te mahi nei**
This is an excellent opportunity for someone to join our high performing team, dealing with both new venues and established premises, bar managers and event organisers, and the community to help maintain our delivery of a quality alcohol licensing service to the people of Christchurch. This role is a fixed term/secondment of 12 months, starting from November 4th 2024.
You'll need to have the ability to act professionally at all times whilst ensuring the statutory requirements and objectives of the Sale & Supply of Alcohol Act 2012 are met. This varied role will see you providing customers with specialist advice and inquire into and report on all licensing matters, manage complaints and be involved in monitoring activity.

- Is able to deal with difficult situations and negotiate positive outcomes
- Has excellent verbal (interviewing applicants) and written (formal report writing) skills
- Has proven time management skills to plan and organise workloads and meet legislative timelines.
- Has the ability to advocate and present at District Licensing Committee and Alcohol Regulatory and Licensing Authority inquiry public hearings, delivering training to prospective training courses in the field of hospitality and to work collaboratively with statutory partner agencies.
You'll mainly work during the day but this position also requires someone with the flexibility to work some weekends and late night hours to monitor compliance at key times on a regular basis. A current, clean driver's licence and suitability to obtain a warrant of appointment, which includes a Ministry of Justice clearance, is essential.
