**He angitūtanga: The opportunity**
We are seeking an experienced Banking and Accounting Analyst to join the Banking and Reconciliation Team. Accounting Services is a part of the Group Treasury, which provides functional support for council-wide financial systems and processes.
This role ensures bank balances are reconciled daily with the general ledger, and that Auckland Council general ledger reconciliations are performed monthly. This position, you will lead, investigate and resolve any discrepancies and ensure the data that interfaces into SAP system balances on a daily basis. You will monitor and report on any at-risk areas especially relating to cash handling and banking, ensuring that these comply with organisational polices and processes.
Previous experience with large volume multi-system accounting records will be essential. You will have good record keeping skills and have solid experience in preparing bank and/or General Ledger reconciliations.
You will be proactive and able to work well with a diverse range of people; you will have previously demonstrated the ability to build strong relationships with internal stakeholders. A flexible approach while being able to work with a sense of urgency at times and possess a wide range of experience to enable you to deliver the key outcomes.

- At least 3 - 5 years of relevant finance/accounting experience
- Demonstratable experience with preparing reconciliations
- Experience with ERP computer systems, SAP and MS Office
- Strong accounting acumen including a great understanding of accounting and taxation policies
- Knowledge of the business model of local government environment and council controlled organisations' would also be highly advantageous
