We're looking for a Continuous Improvement Specialist to join our Innovation and Improvement unit.

The supports the Council in delivering excellent citizen, customer and community services through innovation, and improving our effectiveness, our efficiency, and our capability. The benefits will, over time, be experienced by our teams, Council customers and the wider community.

**About the role | Ko te mahi ne**

The Continuous Improvement Specialist is the driving force for identifying and promoting innovative initiatives across teams to deliver customer and business benefits as well as influencing change within and across business units. You will be involved in both large end-to-end projects and programmes to identify opportunities and synergies, and co-design solutions that reinforce strategy and innovation.

At times you will improve processes as part of technical projects digitising our citizen and employee experiences. You will be kept on your toes as you communicate and liaise with Council suppliers and staff at all levels of the organisation to influence the desired improvement outcomes.

This is a varied role and on any given day you could be:

- Leading process improvement initiatives across Council Units, and in conjunction with suppliers, to deliver efficiencies and benefits to internal and external customers
- Presenting findings and recommendations with confidence and communicate these to sponsors and key stakeholders
- Coaching and supporting project team members in use of tools and methodologies
- Challenging stakeholders to maximise opportunities from process improvement initiatives
- Encouraging and enabling participation of key people from the business in projects to ensure business buy-in and change readiness
- Delivering process improvement training to staff

**About you | Ko Koe Tēnei**

Along with your extensive experience working in a large complex organisation and Lean6Sigma Green Belt accreditation or equivalent, you will bring with you:

- Minimum 5 years' experience using process improvement and project management methodologies and processes (e.g. Lean/Six Sigma, PMP, Prince 2, TQM, ISO or similar)
- Minimum of bachelor's level qualification in Business Management, Commerce, Economics or related fields, or equivalent experience
- Experience in coaching and guiding the business to document business processes, business rules and metrics as part of improvement initiatives
- Excellent relationship building and management skills, with the ability to influence outcomes
- Strong written and verbal communication
- Demonstrated ability to build and manage effective project teams and is decisive and confident, with the ability to energise others
