We are looking for a lawyer to lead the Policy & Regulatory team in Legal Services for 6 months while our Manager is on parental leave. The team provides legal advice across a broad range of regulatory systems and practice areas, including legislative design, licensing and other statutory decisions, regulatory investigations, prosecutions and other enforcement action. The Manager is responsible for people and practice management for a team of 8 awesome lawyers and will be part of a leadership team that works collaboratively to provide advice and assurance on legal risk.
Reporting to the Chief Legal Advisor, you will be part of the Legal Services team in the Organisational Strategy and Performance (Te Urungi) branch. You will be working in a collegial environment where experience and knowledge is shared and support, peer review and constructive feedback are encouraged.
We are looking for a lawyer with extensive experience in working in government, including technical experience in public law, legislative design and operation of regulatory systems. You will need to demonstrate an ability to lead a team, coach individuals, be proactive about establishing client relationships and think strategically about the delivery of legal services and management of legal risk.
