MHSOP Inpatients is an acute inpatient mental health assessment ward for people aged 65 years and over and is located at Middlemore Hospital. People present with a range of functional and / or organic problems and often have co-existing medical conditions. We work closely with the MHSOP community team aiming to deliver comprehensive and integrated care.
This role will support our service users and their family/whaanau, who require an inpatient stay for the treatment of mental health issues

We are looking for an experienced Mental Health/ Psychiatric Assistant to join our team. You must be able to work effectively with people experiencing acute mental health problems, have excellent communication skills, manage challenging situations, be able to deliver personal cares to those with complex presentations, and be able to work under supervision as part of a multidisciplinary team.

Previous experience within a mental health setting is essential for this position.

This position covers the 24/7 roster and you will be required to work all shifts.

**Essential Requirements**:

- Experience in mental health within an acute setting, preferably with older adults
- Good command of the English language, both written and verbal
- Evidence of computer skills
- Level 4 Health Care Assistant Certificate/ Mental Health & Addictions (please attach a copy online) or ability to achieve this
