**Position Overview**

As a nursery person, you will play a vital role in ensuring the success of kiwifruit orchards. The role involves grafting kiwifruit vines to improve plant health, increase fruit yield, and ensure top-quality production. This is a hands-on position suited to individuals with a keen interest in horticulture, strong attention to detail, and a willingness to work outdoors and in a glasshouse.

**Key Responsibilities**
- Preparing potting media and containers before planting.
- Perform various grafting techniques, including whip-and-tongue, cleft grafting, and budding, to ensure successful plant propagation.
- Prepare and maintain grafting tools and equipment and Use specialized tools and techniques to complete grafting tasks efficiently and safely.
- Inspect rootstocks and scion wood to ensure they meet quality standards before grafting.
- Monitor and care for newly grafted plants, ensuring proper growth and development.
- Maintain accurate records of grafting activities, including plant varieties and quantities.
- Ensure compliance with health and safety standards during all times, including the proper use of equipment.
- Work collaboratively with team members to meet daily targets.

**Qualifications and Skills**
- **Qualification & Experience**:Either level 4 qualification or 3-year experience is required.
- **Attention to Detail**: Ability to perform precise and delicate work consistently.
- **Physical Fitness**: Comfortable working outdoors in various weather conditions and capable of standing, bending, and performing repetitive tasks.
- **Team Player**: Ability to work effectively in a team environment and communicate clearly.

**Working conditions**
- Usually work 30 - 40 Hours weekly, and sometimes weekends.
- Pay rate: $28.5 - $31.75.
- Region: Waikato.
- Usually work in glasshouses and outdoors in fields.
- Work in all conditions, which may be hot and humid in glasshouses and cold and wet outdoors.
