Working under the direct supervision of a registered occupational therapist, you will be involved in assisting the occupational therapy team to provide assessment, treatment, and rehabilitation to inpatients at Middlemore Hospital or at the Manukau Surgical Centre. Providing a follow up service to people after discharge from hospital may also be a part of this stimulating role.

Middlemore Hospital Acute Allied Health team offers a supportive environment and encourages personal and career development. In this role you will receive supervision and training to enable you to develop and maintain a comprehensive set of skills to facilitate occupational engagement for clients with medical, surgical and orthopaedic functional challenges.

Previous experience in a health care setting is necessary.

**Essential**:

- An understanding of rehabilitation, illness, and disability
- Health Care Assistant Level 4 qualifications or experience similar to this level
- Good written and verbal communication, excellent customer service aptitude and skills
- Computer literate (Intermediate level) Microsoft office, Outlook
- Great time management skills
- Preference and ability to work as part of a team
- Full and clean driver’s licence

**Desired**
- Relevant tertiary qualification.
