**Te Whiwhinga mahi | The opportunity**
There are two permanent 0.5FTE positions available:
- The first would ideally suit someone with particular interests in law and social justice, clinical legal education, and professional practice;
- The other would ideally suit someone with particular interests in criminal law, criminal procedure, and evidence.
You will teach primarily in the law degrees at undergraduate and postgraduate level but there may also be opportunities to engage in transdisciplinary teaching developments across the University.
It is important that you are passionate about education in general and legal education in particular and will enjoy working with a diverse body of students to enhance their engagement with and develop their understanding of the law and its place in Aotearoa New Zealand. The New Zealand Council of Legal Education is requiring that tikanga Māori should be included as an integral part of all undergraduate law degrees from 2025 so applicants should have some knowledge of and willingness to engage in developing courses and assessment to incorporate tikanga Māori.
Ensuring the courses taught by you are well constructed and delivered and provide the best opportunities for student success is key for these positions. You will have confidence both in the classroom and with online engagement and you will be enthusiastic about developing innovative teaching and assessment methods that allow the students to shine.
You will be based at AUT's City Campus, but some of your teaching may be at AUT's South Campus in Manukau.
Both of these positions are teaching-focused. Appointment level and salary will be commensurate with the qualifications and experience of the successful applicant.

The appointee(s) will secure a permanent, 0.5FTE academic appointment as a teaching path lecturer. **About you | He kōrero mōu**
- An undergraduate law degree and a minimum of a master's degree at the postgraduate level is required.
- Relevant professional experience is an advantage.
- Previous experience in teaching law at the appropriate level is desired, ideally with experience in leading a course.
