This role sits within the Immigration New Zealand, Refugee and Migrant Support team. The team is responsible for developing and implementing settlement policy through the cross-government Refugee Resettlement and Migrant Settlement and Integration Strategies.

The engagement with both the migrant and former refugee communities as well as iwi partners, stakeholders and local councils is critical to understanding the challenges and opportunities around settlement support.

This role supports a whole of government approach to strengthening services and ensuring effective coordination.

**To be successful in this role you will need to demonstrate**:

- High level leadership on settlement and support for migrants and former refugees
- Leadership in the design, and implementation of initiatives that support successful settlement
- Thought leadership within the business on best practice on international engagement frameworks and methodologies. Ngā pukenga me ngā wheako e hiahiatia ana - Skills and experience required
- A strong policy background with a proven ability to think strategically.
- Expertise in migrant settlement issues, and/or other relevant social policy areas.
- Familiarity with New Zealand’s Refugee and Protection framework including the legislation, policies and international obligations.
- Proven experience in building and maintaining relationships with a broad range of culturally diverse stakeholders.
- Commitment to te tiriti o Waitangi and an understanding of how it can shape settlement for migrants and former refugees.
