Are you an experienced Registered Nurse with an interest in brain injury, experience in primary care, community/district nursing and looking to continue working as a nurse professional in a community-based setting? ABI Community Services is looking for someone like you.
ABI Rehabilitation has an opportunity for a registered nurse to join our progressive interdisciplinary community team.
ABI is leader in the field of brain injury rehabilitation in NZ and an accredited provider of community-based rehabilitation for children and adults with a range of conditions including brain injury, neuro-developmental challenges, cerebral palsy, multi-trauma, cognitive and sensory issues.
Our community service provides a range of rehabilitation supporting children and adults with concussion, mild-moderate and severe brain injuries. ABI also provides neurorehabilitation for people with strokes and neurological conditions. We link with our TBI inpatient facility to provide seamless transition for clients returning to living in the community.
Key clinical roles include assessing and treating clients with brain injuries to facilitate their return to preinjury roles and activities. We see our clients at home, workplace, school, and clinic-based settings. We have a strong client and family/ whānau focus, working as an interdisciplinary team.
The successful applicant will have a Bachelor of Health Science in Nursing (or equivalent), a current NZ annual practicing certificate and a minimum of two years' experience working in the community or rehabilitation setting as a registered nurse. Recent experience in one of more fields of primary care healthcare/community/district nursing, neurological rehabilitation, occupational health, community rehabilitation, brain injury rehabilitation, assessment services, concussion service delivery, or vocational rehabilitation is desirable but not essential.
The role requires the ability to work autonomously as well as in close coordination with the rehabilitation team, which includes allied health, medical specialists, neuropsychologists and clinical psychologists. On the job training will be provided from our skilled and supportive team, and we are committed to evidence-based practice, with ongoing support and training.
