**Te whiwhinga mahi | The Opportunity**

The National Public Health Service (NPHS) within Te Whatu Ora, work towards Pae Ora (healthy futures) for all by engaging with the wider determinants that impact people's health, focusing on oranga/wellbeing, prevention, protection, and population-level intervention. We are connected across boundaries to deliver public health services that are nationally planned, regionally delivered and locally tailored.

We have a permanent, full-time opportunity available to join our regional team as **Principal Public Health Advisor**. This is a senior role in the Regional Strategy and Operations Team and National Public Health Service (NPHS).

The primary organisational impact of this position is to effectively support the regional public health service to deliver innovative and best practice planning, public health advice and policy mahi, including health equity in all policies approaches, that enhance our ability to effectively serve communities and whānau across Te Manawa Taki and achieve the aspirations of Pae Ora. This role will work across the regional team, NPHS, the regional health system and across sectors and partners. The successful applicant will also act as delegate for the Manager, Planning, Policy and Performance as required, ensuring all regional planning, policy and performance activities are effectively and sustainably supported.

You have strong public health experience, particularly in providing high quality verbal and written advice to senior stakeholders on public health approaches and can successfully manage and deliver projects. You build effective relationships with stakeholders and can provide input to policy development and approaches that encourage and support the aspirations of Pae Ora. You can champion diversity in the workplace and in how we deliver our services.

- Relevant post-graduate tertiary qualification or comparable experience
- Experience providing written and verbal advice to senior stakeholders on public health topics and approaches
- Experience developing and supporting others in the development of public policy
- Experience with machinery of Government
- Experience leading business planning processes, developing frameworks and protocols to support the development of strategic direction and service delivery.
- Experience in relationship and stakeholder management
