Ara Poutama Aotearoa (Department of Corrections) Health Services lead the delivery of patient-focused primary health care services to tangata within corrections facilities across Aotearoa. Hōkai Rangi, our over-arching strategic direction, places the focus on health at the heart of our business. Building our frameworks from a Matauranga Māori basis is our focus to drive and support equity for Māori, which in turn will contribute to achieving our outcomes of reducing reoffending.
**Mō te tūnga | About the roles**
Mental Health Nurses work as part of the Intervention and Support Practice Team which consists of clinical specialists whom deliver mental health services to those most vulnerable people in our care. Working within a multi-disciplinary approach to care and well-being, your role as a Mental Health Nurse is to provide health services which enhance mental health care for those in our management. Effective clinical caseload management will include triage, assessment and evidence informed treatments that are aligned to best practice mental health service provision, as well as overall promoting the delivery of holistic and recovery-oriented health services across the prison environment. We are seeking Mental Health Nurses to join our mental health service based in Christchurch Men's Prison.

**Ngā pūkenga me ngā wheako | Skills and experience**
- Registered Nurse who holds a current Nursing Council of NZ Annual Practicing Certificate;
- Demonstrable relevant experience including working with people presenting with acute and complex mental health and/or addictions issues
**COVID-19 vaccination requirements**
All people working inside prisons are required to be fully vaccinated as part of the COVID-19 Public Health Response (Vaccinations) Order 2021. People in prison are some of the most vulnerable to COVID-19 and due to the ease of transmission, extending the Vaccination Order supports the safety and wellbeing of our staff and people in prison.
