**Senior Social Worker - Community Child Health**

We are looking for an experienced social worker to join our Community Child Health Team based at Waitakere Hospital in the role of Senior Social Worker - Community Child Health.
The role aims to enhance health and social outcomes for tamariki (children), family and whānau by providing clinical leadership and highly developed clinical practice to provide best care across an inpatient and community based healthcare model.

**About the Role**
As a Senior Social Worker in the Community Child Health Team, you will be working in a multi-disciplinary environment, providing social work support for the whānau of tamariki who are impacted by acute and/or long term health care needs. The role is primarily based in the community providing support for whānau in their home, with the addition of some in-reach social work support to the Rangatira Paediatric Ward.
Following an orientation and settling in period, it is expected that you will participate in the Child, Women and Family On-Call roster providing support across our inpatient wards for child health, women’s health and maternity wards. The on-call roster is active on weekends and public holidays from 8am-4.30pm.
As this is a leadership role, you will have the opportunity to invest in others, by sharing your knowledge and skills within the team and across Child Health by way of providing daily support, teaching, and/or supervision to support their growth and development, as well as supporting student social workers.
In return you will be supported to grow and develop in your role and be provided regular supervision with the support of our Social Work Clinical Leader who works across both North and West Community Child Health Teams, as well as the Professional Clinical Leader for Social Work. Within this clinical leadership group, you will have the opportunity to participate/lead service improvements and initiatives that will bring about improvements in service delivery and improve health and social outcomes for our tamariki.
The role is based primarily at Waitakere Hospital, but travel to other Waitematā sites (North Shore and West Auckland) will be required in this senior clinical role.
**About the Team/Service/ Location**
Our Community Child Health Team is made up of dedicated allied health and nursing clinicians who share a passion for supporting tamariki and their whānau who are faced with various health and disability challenges to live their best lives at home. Working in collaboration and in partnership with our whānau is central to our work, as is the drive to be strengths based. We have a hard-working team, that are closely connected - supporting each other on a daily basis, but who also enjoy bringing a sense of fun to their work environment. We maintain close working relationships across our inpatient paediatric areas and our community based Child Health services.
**About you**
Our ideal person will be passionate about providing care and improving health and social outcomes for tamariki and their whanau. You will have proven ability to work autonomously as well as collaboratively in a supportive multi-disciplinary team environment.
For this role you will need to have:
- A current APC and registered with the Social Workers Registration Board (SWRB)
- At least 5 years in social work practice including 2 years’ experience in Health NZ working with tamariki, rangatahi, families and whānau
- Knowledge of working with issues of Child Protection, Intimate Partner Violence and adult safeguarding - including report writing
- Demonstrated leadership experience
- A full NZ driver’s license
- A passion for working with tamariki and their whānau
