**Nurse Practitioner - The Doctors Middlemore**

Opportunity for the right Nurse Practitioner (or NP Intern) to add to our team.

We are an integrated UC/GP that is looked after by our UC and GP clinical directors (FRNZCUC/FRNZGP). We work with very diverse and high-needs populations in NZ and you will see a good depth of clinical pathologies. We are located at the end of the road from Middlemore Hospital, we also get to see a variety of presentations from the Emergency Queue in our Urgent Care.

We generally will match the current rates for the level of training, we support CNE study leave and professional costs (AP, indemnity, and professional supervision), and adjust contracts/templates for individual circumstances. We can provide extended twenty-minute consults as needed to enable an NP model of care. We have a stable core team and would love to expand our Advanced Nursing Roles to develop both our GP and UC departments.

**In terms of rostering, we operate as a General Practice 8 am-6 pm 5 days a week so hours and days are quite flexible to fit around family or other commitments. Our practitioners also have the option of working part of their FTE on Urgent Care. The urgent care is open 7 days 8 am to 8 pm. Both contractors and employee arrangements are available.**

**About the role**

The Nurse Practitioner is expected to be well-versed in all aspects of the provision of patient care. You will need to be able to work autonomously and part of your role will be to conduct physical assessments, diagnose, and treat common conditions, provide screenings, and prescribe medications to our patients. Providing one on one advice to patients means that you will need to be friendly, compassionate, and proactive in the management of conditions.

Alongside us, you will have the chance to bring your prior knowledge, skills, and experience, to care for our enrolled patient population which includes a diverse range of patients in all age brackets. You will receive GP and NP collegial support, work with skilled experienced nurses and the administration team, and be supported by our Medical Centre Manager.

Do you have what we are looking for?
- Current registration with the NZNC as a Nurse Practitioner and current APC is essential
- Prior experience in primary care and particularly general practice or urgent care
- An aim to improve healthcare access across the practice population
- An understanding of equity and reflective clinical practice
- Ability to demonstrate advanced clinical nursing practice.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to build a strong rapport with team members.
- A physically fit person who is resilient, confident, friendly, and approachable.
