At Matamata-Piako District Council, we are on the lookout for a sharp, curious, and community-minded Graduate Policy Advisor or Policy Advisor to join our team.

If you're passionate about improving how things work — from dog bylaws to climate change — this is your chance to dive in and make a real impact.

In this role you'll be involved in:

- Contributing to corporate performance reporting through the Annual Report
- Helping to build our Long-Term Plan (LTP), Annual Plan, and other strategic documents
- Learning how policy connects to budgets, projects, and big-picture planning
- Researching and helping shape policies and bylaws that impact our community
- Writing reports and briefings that inform council decisions
- Supporting engagement with iwi, communities, and stakeholders.

In this role you will gain hands-on experience in how council decisions are shaped, funded, and delivered.
