**Sexual Harm Crisis Worker**
**Thames-Coromandel/Hauraki District**
**Part Time Position**
CAPS Hauraki (child abuse prevention services) multidisciplinary team work together to make a difference in the lives of families within our local communities. We are seeking to employ a skilled and experienced practitioner who thrives on delivering a range of service options to meet the diverse needs of survivors of sexual harm and their whanau.
A key focus for this role will be working alongside the survivors of sexual harm and their whanau (as appropriate). This role is based within Thames-Coromandel/Hauraki, however may involve some travel to support clients in the Mata-mata Piako region as needed to meet referral demand.
**Service provided include**:
- Symptom management (Crisis counselling)
- Support during police interviews and medical examinations related to an incident of sexual harm
- Practical support focused on removing barriers to accessing help
- Information that enables the survivor and their whanau to make informed decisions
Skills you would require to be successful in this role:
- An understanding around the dynamics and impact of sexual violence and family violence
- Experience in working alongside survivors of sexual violence and their family/whanau and/or a willingness to expand your knowledge in this specialist area
- The ability to establish and maintain positive working relationships with key stakeholders
- Excellent listening, communication and relationship/rapport building skills
- The ability to demonstrate initiative, good judgement and flexibility
- Excellent time management and organisational skills
- Preferably hold a formal qualification in Counselling, Social Work or other related discipline
- Experience of working with both adult and child clients would be an advantage
- The ability to utilise I.T. systems including a web based data base
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- A full and clean Drivers Licence
- This position is classed as a Core Worker and will need to pass a safety check, inclusive of Police Vetting, under the Children’s Act 2014
