Te Mahi/About the Position
We have exciting opportunities for permanent full-time or part-time Caretakers to join our dedicated Facilities & Asset team at Nurse Maude, based in Christchurch. These roles work Monday to Friday.
This role contributes to the success of Nurse Maude by ensuring efficient maintenance of facilities, assets, and grounds. This includes tasks such as painting, plumbing, carpentry, and electrical work to keep the building and grounds in excellent condition. The Caretaker will work with the team leader and maintenance team to address issues promptly, ensuring a safe, clean, and functional environment for all occupants.
The Caretaker will support operations by planning and executing maintenance schedules, responding to emergency repairs while ensuring that health and safety is a key focus in every task.

The successful applicant will have:
- A Trade-Based Background: Experience in painting, plumbing, building and/or electrical skills.
- Technical Skills: Working knowledge of the techniques, methods, tools and safety precautions of the carpentry trades.
- Groundskeeping Practices: Experience with groundskeeping practices and landscape maintenance.
- Facilities Maintenance: Proven experience in performing day-to-day facilities maintenance, including both reactive and proactive tasks.
- Health and Safety Compliance: Ensures all maintenance activities adhere to health and safety regulations.
- Record Keeping and Reporting: Proficient in maintaining accurate records and reporting tasks.
- Time Management and Problem Solving: Excellent skills in managing time and solving problems.
- Computer Skills: Basic to intermediate proficiency with Microsoft Office and confidence using computers.
- Proactive Mindset: A solution-focused mindset with a high level of initiative.
- Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication abilities.
- Physical Fitness: Physically fit and agile, capable of regular bending and lifting tasks.
- Driver's Licence: A full, clean NZ driver's licence.
You'll also either hold or be willing to obtain:
- A Test and Tag certificate
- Site Safe Foundation Passport (Building and Construction)
- Chemical Awareness Training certificate
Experience in the healthcare sector is advantageous, and a working knowledge of Te Tiriti o Waitangi principles is essential.
