Hawke's Bay, New Zealand New Zealand Government Full time

Full Time, Permanent, Hastings
- Remuneration between 74 - 102k per annum
- Working alongside Te Ikaroa Rangatahi Social Services

Our Youth Justice Social Workers are the key people who work with young people, their whānau, police, youth advocates and essential government and community support services when a young person has committed a serious offence.

This is a real opportunity to positively influence young people, and whānau in your community.

Mō mātou | About Us

Oranga Tamariki—Ministry for Children is focused on the oranga (wellbeing) of tamariki and rangatahi. Our Oranga rangatahi Programme supports this journey by supporting rangatahi and whanau within their community The focus is on preventing rangatahi from entering the formal youth justice system. It is an opportunity to achieve positive change in young peoples' lives and to help them succeed in the community. We do this by delivering therapeutic interventions, developing life and social skills through different channels (e.g. sports, coaching), enhancing cultural connections and creating pathways to education and work.

Mō te tūnga | About the role

You will work intensively with young people and their whānau, to understand what their goals, hopes and needs are and then to put plans in place to help them realise those ambitions. There is the opportunity to adopt a flexible approach, so long as the young person's needs and oranga are put first. This gives you the ability to create new individual or group programmes or to use creative ways of enhancing the young person's mana - whether that be through cultural connections or celebrating success.

On top of the intrinsic rewards of seeing the young people you support positively grow and develop, we offer a salary range of up to between $74,839 - 102,000 per annum (based on skills and experience) and added benefits of working for Oranga Tamariki. We support you with comprehensive training and on-going coaching and development to ensure that you have the tools you need to achieve the best outcomes for young people in our care.

Mōu | About you

Above all else, you must be able to keep young people's oranga as the key focus in your work as well as:
