At He Whānau Manaaki Kindergartens, we have over 110 kindergartens across the regions we serve, bringing learning, connection, and fun to families across Whanganui, Central Plateau, Horowhenua, Kapiti, Porirua, Greater Wellington, Upper Hutt, Wairarapa and South Otago. We also provide a home-based service - Etu Ao in Porirua and Levin.

More than 6,000 children now attend one of Whānau Manaaki’s 108 kindergartens and around 150 children are enrolled with our Pasifika-focused Etu Ao homebased service.
**Community Description**
Nuanua Kindergarten is next to Cannons Creek School in Porirua East and is adjacent to the local shopping centre. It is located next to the PIC church where there is a close relationship that exists.
This is a Pacific Kindergarten founded on the cultures of both Samoan and Tokelau cultures.
The environment, curriculum and teaching practices are embedded in these two Pacific Cultures. Nuanua Kindergarten also has a number of migrant and refugee children that attend making it a culturally diverse and rich Kindergarten.
Being active in the local community is an important aspect of Nuanua kindergarten where children participate in a bushwalk programme, regularly visit the local library and neighboring school.
This is a.55 position - 22 hours per week
Mon 6hrs (10am - 4.30pm including 1/2hr unpaid break)
Tue 4hrs (10am - 2pm)
Wed 4hrs (10am - 2pm)
Thu 4hrs (10am - 2pm)
Fri 4hrs (10am - 2pm)
We are licensed for 63 children who attend for 6 hours each day. We have children from the age of 6 months to 5 years. You will join our team of 9 other teachers. All teachers work with infants, toddlers and young children within a whanau based philosophy.
We are looking for a passionate ECE teacher who:
- is committed to fully embracing the two Pacific cultures Nuanua Kindergarten was originally founded on, being Samoan and Tokelauan cultures.
- demonstrates a commitment to Te Tiriti o Waitangi within all aspects of teaching practice.
- is skilled at engaging with whānau on a level where trust is formed and nurtured, enabling whānau to gain a sense of belonging at the kindergarten.
- actively contributes to the learning community, within meetings, through daily teaching practices and documentation including learning stories, internal evaluations and IEP’s.
- can implement a dynamic curriculum for children that is thoughtful, stimulating and culturally relevant.
- is skilled and competent teaching infants, toddlers and young children and can do so in an inclusive way.
