Supervising Medical Laboratory Technician

Te Tai o Poutini West Coast Laboratory is looking for a Supervising Medical Laboratory Technician, for our small but busy core laboratory, to perform routine testing and associated duties as required throughout the laboratory. We are a close-knit friendly team of Scientists and Technicians with a strong quality focus. We are looking for you to bring a 'can do' attitude to ensure the efficient and smooth running of laboratory services.
The laboratory operates between the hours of 07:00 and 18:00 Monday to Friday, and provides on call services over weekends. This is a full time role, Monday to Friday, working a shift between 07:30 ' 1700.

**The key objectives and responsibilities are to**:

- Provide sound pre-analytical advice to users of the Laboratory
- To be conversant with and responsible for the operation and use of the laboratory information system to register patients, input data and access results.
- Be responsible, together with the Lab Manager, for ensuring that the Phlebotomy service continues to meet IANZ laboratory accreditation requirements as it relates to the quality of staff training, service delivery and the maintenance of appropriate documentation
- Be responsible for performing a variety of duties in the Laboratory, including basic troubleshooting of tests and equipment relevant to the laboratory's operation
- Be responsible for adhering to laboratory quality assurance procedure requirements.
- Be responsible for the communication of accurate and timely information to the Laboratory Manager.Ngā pūkenga me ngā wheako | Skills and experience

- Registered Pre-analytical Medical Laboratory Technician / Medical Laboratory Technician
- Able to maintain confidentiality and use discretion.
