Sitting on our Merchandise Leadership Team, you’ll report to the General Manager Merchandise. As Head of Merchandise - Bakery, Chilled, Deli, Beverages & Liquor, you’ll lead and drive a portfolio of categories to deliver on our aspirations of becoming the most customer driven retailer in the world.

**About the role**
- Based on the ever-changing landscape of our customers and communities, you’ll develop, define and implement the customer driven strategies in line with the overall Merchandise and FSNI (Foodstuffs North Island) strategy. Partnering with suppliers, marketing, our retail team, other parts of our FSNI business and very importantly our stores, you’ll bring these strategies to life while leading and inspiring your team of 20 with 5 direct reports.

Key responsibilities include:

- Supporting, leading, engaging and developing a world class team of Category Managers creating a high performing culture, inspiring your team to bring their whole selves to work every day
- Set and implement category strategies and KPI’s that are developed and delivered in full and on time
- Establish credibility as a trusted partner and influencer across the co-op ensuring customer centric decisions are made, supplier relationships are maximised, technology and processes are optimised and alignment is achieved across the banners and business

- With a strong track record in strategic leadership, you’ll be a leader who leads from the front, emulating a mind set that puts our customers needs first while building a team that delivers on our purpose of helping New Zealanders get the most out of life.

Other skills/experiences will include:

- Extensive knowledge of either merchandise or FMCG/retail, delivering strategic outcomes and partnerships for a customer focussed business
- Development and implementation of strategies that align with the wider business
- Outstanding planning and communication skills with the ability to form and articulate ideas/concepts and deliver to others
