In 2014 our client launched a tech-based power company to disrupt Aotearoa’s outdated, self-serving industry. They were the first energy retailer to offer Kiwis a way to purchase cheaper power directly off the wholesale electricity market.
They have stayed true to these foundations of fairness, honesty and transparency as they have grown.
Their platform integrates with the electricity market, invoices customers, manages their relationship with those customers, and provides signature digital experiences across multiple channels.
**The Role**:
The Lead Developer champions behaviour by setting aspirational standards in both technical expertise and delivery and coaching and developing other developers. Lead a squad of developers to deliver value to our client and its customers through the use of agile best practices to organise and focus the squad on achieving outcomes with continuous delivery, in collaboration with Delivery Managers.
**Key Responsibilities**:
- Provide developers with the support they need to grow technically and professionally in their practice.
- Work closely with Product Managers and Product Designers to provide insight around the feasibility of initiatives and solutions are designed ensuring technical quality.
- Responsible for the roadmap, performance and maintenance of the squad’s services and the quality, effectiveness and timeliness of solutions delivered.
- Building software in alignment with the quality assurance, standards, patterns and technologies at.
- Using squad development workflows to predictably and reliably develop code to be production ready.
- Understanding customer or user needs.
- Identifying issues and blockers and proactively seeking to solve them with the team; seeking help when you need a hand.
- Continuous improvement
- Using feedback as a tool for growth.
**Key Skills and Experience**:
- Excellent technical and non-technical communication skills with people at all levels.
- Significant experience in the technologies relevant to their squad at at least a Senior Developer level.
- Able to turn ambiguity and complexity into clarity.
- Uses pragmatism, collaboration and compromise to design appropriate solutions.
- Previous experience/an understanding of Ruby is beneficial
