**Kōrero mō te tūranga - About the role**
An opportunity has arisen for a Health Care Assistant to join our team on Ward 5 North, Wellington Regional Hospital
We are a 40-bed inpatient ward with close links to the Cancer Day ward, radiation oncology and the inpatient haemodialysis unit providing a range of specialist services including but not limited to chemotherapy delivery, apheresis and stem cell transplantation and renal transplant.
We provide inpatient services for medical oncology, radiation oncology, haematology and renal specialities.
The position is in a friendly and supportive team. We are looking for people with the ability to communicate effectively and with good written skills. You’ll assist the nursing staff and patients with activities of daily living. You will be tasked with the restocking of clinical supplies and maintaining a clean environment. You will also be tasked with patient observation and engagement. If you’re an energetic and motivated person with good communication skills and have NZQA Level 3 in Health and Wellbeing (or equivalent), we want to hear from you.
Duties
- Assisting patient with activities of daily living to maintain independence
- Restocking of clinical supplies
- Maintaining a clean ward environment
- Patient observation and engagement
Skills & Experience
- Level 3 NZQA National Certificate in Health and Wellbeing (or equivalent qualification)
- Current NZ working Visa/residency or a NZ Citizen
- Health care work experience
- Effective time manage skills

Our ward has a strong focus on a multidisciplinary team approach to patient care in order to minimise the impact of Cancer and Renal complex conditions on our patients and their families. High standards of nursing care are achieved through nursing staff striving for excellence in their practice therefore, professional development play an important role in maintaining these standards.
**Moū - About you**
You will need to have or be in the process of completing National Certificate in Health & Wellbeing Support (Level 3) or equivalent.
