We are seeking an experienced leader to guide technical delivery, strengthen team capability, and drive client outcomes as **Technical Director / Team Lead**within our **Auckland Structures team**. This position offers a unique blend of technical leadership, team management, and client engagement within a globally connected and well-established consultancy.

You will be supported by the Business Group Leader and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams across New Zealand and internationally. The role combines responsibility for team leadership with oversight of project delivery and active participation in business development.

**The Role**:

- Lead and manage a team of Structural Engineers, including responsibility for performance, development, and resource planning.
- Drive high-quality structural design across a diverse range of structural projects.
- Oversee project delivery as Project Manager or Project Director where required, ensuring timelines, quality benchmarks, and commercial targets are met.
- Work collaboratively with internal and external design disciplines, including architecture, civil, geotechnical, and building services to deliver coordinated, client-focused solutions.
- Develop and maintain strong business relationships with existing and prospective clients to help secure new and repeat work.
- Provide technical guidance and mentoring to engineers in Auckland, and facilitate collaboration with other regional teams.
- Support the Business Group Leader in advancing the Structures business plan and contributing to broader sector goals.

**About You**:

- A Chartered Professional Engineer (CPEng) with Engineering New Zealand.
- At least 15 years’ experience in structural engineering, ideally within a consultancy environment, including significant exposure to seismic design and NZ regulatory standards.
- Proven delivery across a variety of building types and structural materials within the NZ consultancy environment.
- Working knowledge of the NZ Building Act and Code together with knowledge of public and private sector development requirements.
- Demonstrated ability to manage complex or large-scale projects with a strong focus on quality, timelines, and commercial performance.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build trusted client relationships and identify future opportunities.
- Proven experience in leading, mentoring, and developing engineering teams in a collaborative and supportive environment.
