Medical Laboratory Technician Ashburton

**Mō te tūnga | About the role**

Canterbury Health Laboratories is looking for a Medical Laboratory Technician with experience in Haematology and or biochemistry, or Phlebotomy (QPT) or specimen services (QSST) to join their team in Ashburton on a fulltime basis. We are a small but busy laboratory where your generalist skills will be valued.

You will be part of a supportive and friendly team that has a strong focus on providing a quality laboratory service to the Ashburton community. You will bring a - can do - attitude as you work with the team of Scientists and Technicians to ensure efficient and smooth running laboratory services.

In this role, you will be responsible for a variety of tasks including communicating with service users, blood collection (in the rooms, wards and house-calls in the community), processing specimens, data entry and responding to phone calls. You - ll be passionate about providing a high-quality service and be able to build trusted relationships with patients and their whānau. Depending upon qualifications you may also run analysers in our chemistry and haematology departments.

- Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to build rapport with patients out in the community;
- The ability to work collaboratively and contribute to and improve personal and team performance;
- Ideally you will be registered with the Medical Sciences Council.
- As some travel is required within the community, a full or restricted NZ driver - s license is essential.
