The successful applicant will find themselves working in a diverse range of functions with new and interesting projects to get stuck into. Although this position is only for a fixed term of 12 months, it could be a great opportunity for a new graduate to gain valuable experience for their next career step.

As an Environmental Health Officer joining our Food Safety & Environment Health team, you will have a good balance of both office and field-based work.

Our team at the Council helps manage and monitor various aspects of public health, including; noise control management, investigation and assessment of contaminated land, public health comment and input into building and resource consents, registration and inspection of offensive trades, hazardous substances duties to protect public safety and the inspection/monitoring/abatement of environmental health nuisances, Food Safety and Health Licensing (Campgrounds, Hairdressers, Funeral Parlours, etc ).

If you have demonstrated experience in managing a variety of environmental health issues as an Environmental Health Officer, or hold/are working towards a qualification that will allow you to work as an EHO, you will love working collaboratively with others in our team to achieve our targets and develop great relationships with our customers and partner agencies.

You will be able to easily communicate law, guidelines, and advice to our customers, the community, the wider Council, and your technical counterparts by adapting your communication styles to suit individual needs.
